Now on Mac · Free
Louder than your Mac was built to go.
A system-wide volume booster and equalizer for macOS — push past the built-in maximum, shape your sound with a graphic EQ, and widen the stage, right from your menu bar.
NEW IN v0.2.4 — steadier boost on AirPods and other Bluetooth headphones: no more cycling on and off in the menu bar, and audio kicks in right away.
PREVIOUSLY · v0.2.3 — cooler idle standby for lower background CPU and better battery life, plus smoother startup and audio-driver conflict warnings.
The idea
Every sound on your Mac, turned up and dialed in.
Amplify lives in your menu bar and makes your whole Mac louder than its built-in maximum — with a graphic EQ, 3D surround, and independent volume for each app. It was born from a simple frustration: the popular tool for this kept crashing. So we built a calmer, faster one from scratch — audio driver and all.
Features
What it does today
Volume Boost
Go far beyond 100%. A look-ahead limiter keeps the extra loudness clean and full instead of harsh or clipped.
10-Band Equalizer
Shape your sound with ready presets — Flat, Music, Bass Boost, Treble, Vocal, and Loudness.
3D Surround
Widen the stereo field so music opens up and feels bigger than your speakers or earbuds.
Custom EQ Presets
Shape your own curve with hands-on band sliders, then save it as a named preset you can recall anytime.
Auto Device-Switch
Follows your AirPods, monitor, or speakers automatically — and remembers a separate boost & EQ for each.
Live Level Meter
A pulsing meter right in the panel so you can see your audio moving, not just hear it.
Its Own Audio Engine
A purpose-built audio driver — no third-party dependencies. Your keyboard volume and mute keys just work.
Menu-Bar Native
Lives quietly in your menu bar, remembers your settings, and can start automatically at login.
How it works
Invisible, in real time.
Capture
Your Mac's sound flows through Amplify's own audio device instead of straight to the speaker.
Process
Boost, EQ, limiter and surround are applied live — with almost no delay you can notice.
Play
The result goes out to whatever you're listening on, following you as you switch devices.
On the horizon
What's coming next
Amplify is just getting started. Planned additions include:
- A hands-on slider EQ. Drag each band yourself to fine-tune the exact curve — and save your own custom presets, not just the built-ins.
- More presets & genre profiles — dialed-in starting points for podcasts, gaming, classical, and live shows.
- A menu-bar visualizer — a compact spectrum you can glance at while you work.
- Global hotkeys — bump the boost or toggle the EQ without opening the panel.
- Deeper spatial audio — richer, room-like surround for headphones.
